Who Is Paddy Pimblett?
Patrick Mark “Paddy” Pimblett is an English MMA fighter who currently fights in the lightweight division in the UFC. He was born on 3 January 1995 in Huyton, Merseyside, England. He showed a keen interest in MMA and UFC from a young age, having watched a fight at UFC 103 in 2009, between Vitor Belfort and Rich Franklin.
At 15 years old, Pimblett joined the Nex Generation MMA Liverpool team, and after realising he enjoyed it and showed talent, he decided to pursue a career.

Paddy Pimblett is best friends with fellow Liverpool UFC fighter, Molly McCann. McCann trains at the same Next Generation MMA gym as Paddy, and both fighters competed in Cage Warriors. Molly McCann made her UFC debut in 2018.
Paddy Pimblett Fighting Career
Early Career Pre-UFC
Just two years later, at age 17, Paddy Pimblett made his fight debut. His first-ever fight was in the bantamweight division against Nathan Thompson at OMMAC 15: Legacy in October 2012. Paddy Pimblett won the fight by submission in the first round.
Pimblett followed this up with another win by submission in December 2012 against Dougie Scott at Cage Contender. His third fight, against Jack Drabble at OMMAC 17: High Octane, saw Pimblett claim another win, and came by technical knockout after just 21-seconds.
With a 3-0 record under his belt, Paddy Pimblett signed with Cage Warriors (an Irish-owned MMA promotion company) in 2013. After claiming the Cage Warriors featherweight championship in 2016, Pimblett managed to defend it once but then lost it to Nad Narimani at Cage Warriors 82 by unanimous decision in 2017.
However, Paddy Pimblett decided to move up a weight class to lightweight and went on to challenge for the Cage Warriors lightweight championship in 2018, but lost by unanimous decision to Soren Bak. After recording a loss and then a couple of wins with the Cage Warriors company, Pimblett signed with UFC. It’s claimed Paddy Pimblett had been offered a UFC contract on two previous occasions, but turned them both down, having been offered better pay by Cage Warriors.

Just six months after his last Cage Warriors fight, Paddy Pimblett made his UFC debut on 4 September 2021 against Luigi Vendramini. Pimblett’s UFC career got off to a stellar start, as he won the fight by knockout in round 1 after 4 minutes 25 seconds. Pimblett also won the Performance of the Night bonus worth US$50,000.

Paddy Pimblett’s second UFC fight was against Rodrigo Vargas. Pimblett won by submission in the first round and earned himself a second Performance of the Night bonus. On top of his second $50,000 bonus, Paddy said he earned $12,000 to show up for the fight and another $12,000 for winning, making his total earnings for this fight $74,000.

Paddy Pimblett’s most recent UFC fight was at UFC Fight Night 208 against Jordan Leavitt on 23 July 2022 at The O2 Arena in London, England. Paddy Pimblett won the fight in round 2, again by submission and earned himself his third consecutive Performance of the Night bonus.

The speech was inspired by the passing Rikki, a close friend of his, by suicide, which occurred just hours before his weigh-in for his fight.

During his speech, Paddy said, “There’s a stigma in this world that men can’t talk. Listen, if you’re a man and you’ve got weight on your shoulders and think the only way you can solve it is by killing yourself, please speak to someone! Speak to anyone.”
“I know I’d rather my mate cry on my shoulder than go to his funeral next week. So please, let’s get rid of this stigma and men, start talking!.”
Paddy’s speech went viral soon after on platforms such as TikTok and a mural has even been created that displays his words in Scotland.
Collaborations
Paddy partnered with ABE, giving “Paddy the Baddy” Mesh shirts and “Abe All black everything in the US,” which includes four Abe variants drinks and two cans of the award-winning pre-workout powder. In partnership with B&M Stores in Clayton, Paddy also offered a free autograph on Punch Body Fuel bottles purchased by customers in the store. For the “No More Knives” and “Weapons Down, Gloves Up” initiative, he role-played as the coach of a team in a football friendly match to raise funds for NGOs fighting the use of guns.
In partnership with Cryptocomofficial, Paddy gifted a pair of signed gloves to a randomly selected fan. He also partnered with Bxng Club in February 2023 for an exclusive MMA seminar featuring an after-class meet-and-greet at Solana Beach. In February 2024, Paddy’s partnership with McKlnney saw him gift out a fully furnished £250,000 apartment at Liverpool City Centre. As a pioneer for men’s health, he collaborated with James’ Place UK, to fight suicide amongst men. Leisure
After watching his friend Thomas Paul win a belt after the 2nd knockout round, Paddy visited Baba Beach Club Natai by Sri Panwa. The UFC Baddy enjoyed cage scuba diving with sharks and turtles at the Phi Phi Barracuda, spending time working out at Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA centre. At Knott’s Berry Farm, the Southern California original theme park, Paddy’s most enjoyed rides were the Ghost Rider and Hang Time. He had a walk with his friends at Sycuan Casino, San Diego, recounting his experience of hanging out with his inspirations, which he had watched on TV, as fulfilling and blissful.
His dog, Lenny, turned two years old, and he thanked Laura, his partner, for being his source of strength and inspiration. Murwalls Licensed Street Art in Liverpool hosted Paddy and his sister by setting up a mural painting of the duo, which they gushed about. Paddy hosted popular interviewer Amelia Dimoldenberg to a question-and-answer bout. MoneyGram Haas F1 Team and Silverstone Circuit also hosted Paddy to get a feel of the F1 Race. The Liquid Light Podcast, hosted by Paddy, featured different celebrities like Callum Tarren, Thomas Zanetti, AJ McKee, amongst a host of others.
Family
Thailand and Phi Phi Island were some of Paddy’s rest stops while spending time with Laura. They also attended the PFA awards. In November, Paddy and Laura shared that they are expecting a set of twins in May 2024.
