UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier is one of the promotion’s biggest superstars. The 35-year-old Poirier is most popular for his twin victories over Conor McGregor in 2021. The Diamond stands as the only fighter to beat McGregor more than once but the American fighter boasts an impressive UFC record.


Poirier was the interim UFC lightweight champion but lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 when they fought for the undisputed 155-pound title. Poirier earned a second crack at lightweight gold after his two wins over McGregor. He was submitted by Charles Oliveira at UFC 269 in his 36th career fight.

The Louisiana fighter is one of the longest-tenured competitors in the UFC, making his impressive debut in the promotion in 2009, recording 30 fights in the UFC.

The Diamond began his pro MMA career fighting for regional-based promotions. He also fought under the WEC banner in 2010 going 1-1 in two fights there. Poirier then took his talents to the UFC, winning his first four bouts before suffering his first UFC loss to The Korean Zombie in his first main event bout at UFC on Fuel TV 3.

In 2015, Dustin returned to the lightweight division, and with the big fights there, he became a star. He is 14-4 with one no-contest as a UFC lightweight in his most recent bout, Poirier recorded a sensational knockout win over rising Frenchman Benoit Saint-Denis to earn a third title shot. He will challenge Islam Makhachev for the UFC lightweight title at the main event of UFC 302 on June 1, 2024, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
