Steve Erceg watched his first UFC bout as a kid and made his pro-MMA debut at the age of 20. Now 28, Erceg is set to fight for a UFC belt at UFC 301.

Erceg is currently 28 years of age. He stands 5″8′ tall and has a reach of 68 inches while fighting out of the orthodox stance.

As a kid, Erceg was a huge WWE fan. But his interest moved from pro wrestling to MMA when at the age of 12, he watched Brock Lesnar make his UFC debut against Frank Mir. Four years later, he began training in mixed martial arts. According to the Aussie, he wanted to be the toughest guy in the room.

Astro Boy was 20 years old when he made his professional MMA debut on 12 February 2016, at CDL Super Card in Perth against Ryan Robertson. Erceg won that fight via second-round submission. His second fight did not go his way as he lost his Hex Fight Series debut against Sean Gauci in Melbourne. That defeat only made Erceg better.

After picking up a win in his second fight with Hex, Erceg transferred to Eternal MMA. A 24-year-old Astro Boy went on to defeat Shannon Ross at Eternal MMA 52 to win the organisation’s flyweight championship. With eight straight victories since his loss to Gauci, Erceg made his first Octagon appearance at UFC 289 on 10 June 2023.

Actually, Erceg signed with the UFC in 2022 and he was supposed to make his UFC debut that year. However, visa issues forced him to withdraw from an appearance at the Dana White Contender Series.

The bout with Clayton Carpenter was rescheduled for May the following at UFC Fight Night 223 but once again, Erceg was hounded with visa issues and the fight did not materialize. Finally, at the age of 27, Erceg debuted in the UFC with a unanimous decision win over David Dvorak. Two fights later, he will be fighting for the flyweight belt while headlining his first UFC event.
