Although it’s his knockout power that makes him the scariest fighter in the UFC, part of what makes Alex Pereira a mythical fighter of sorts in MMA is his size.

Pereira began his MMA career at middleweight but when he isn’t training, he looks like a heavyweight fighter, especially with his height. Poatan height in feet is listed at 6″4 tall… but some say he is much taller.

Last year, Pereira posed side by side with boxing’s lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury who is listed as a 6″9 fighter. Although the photo angle could have played a factor, Pereira is definitely not five inches shorter than the Gypsy King.

Because he is very tall, Pereira also has a naturally long reach which has been very useful in his MMA career because Pereira likes to fight on the feet. With a length of 79 inches, he can keep his opponents at bay while he tries to set them up for his powerful left hook. Pereira’s height also enables him to tower over his opponents and see his target better.

Overall, when you look at Alex Pereira, he’s a guy who may be tall enough to even move up to heavyweight, if so he chooses. Current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is also listed at 6″4, Meanwhile, interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall is six feet and five inches tall.

For now, however, Pereira is content with being the UFC’s 205lb champion and he is set to defend his belt against former champion Jamahal Hill at the main event of UFC 300 on April 14, 2024, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada. At 6-4 tall, Hill is only the second Pereira opponent who has matched the Brazilian’s height. The other was Israel Adesanya whom Poatan went 1-1 against.
