With the average height of UFC flyweights pegged at 5 feet and five inches, Australia’s pride Steve Erceg stands tall in the 125-pound division.

How tall is Steve Erceg?

The UFC’s No.10 ranked flyweight is well above the division height average at 5 feet and 8 inches tall. With his physical gifts, Erceg has used his size and length advantage against most of his opponents and he will get the chance to do so in his upcoming fight.

The Perth, Australia native is scheduled to challenge UFC flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 301. The reigning champion stands just 5″5′ tall and will face a three-inch height disadvantage against Erceg. However, Pantoja is used to fighting and beating taller opponents.

The Cannibal won the 125-pound belt by defeating rival 5-7 Brandon Moreno at UFC 290 last 8 July 2023, and successfully defended the title against 5-9 Brandon Royval at UFC 296 last 16 December 2023. He also owns a first-round KO win over 5-8 Matt Schnell.

Schnell is the only common opponent between Pantoja and Erceg. Erceg also knocked out Schell inside the first round when they faced off at UFC Fight Night 236 last 2 March 2024 in Las Vegas.

Before fighting Schnell, Erceg’s two other UFC opponents were much shorter than him. Erceg defeated 5-5 David Dvorak via unanimous decision in his UFC debut at UFC 289. Astro Boy then beat 5-4 Alessandro Costa in his second Octagon appearance at UFC 295 last 11 November 2023.

UFC 301 is scheduled to take place this coming 4 May 2024, at the Farmassi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event will mark the first time that both Alexandre Pantoja and Steve Erceg will headline a UFC event. Pantoja, who hails from the Rio municipality Arraial do Cabo, will have the backing of an expected 15,000 crowd.

Meanwhile, Erceg hopes that his height and reach advantages will help him outstrike Pantoja on the feet and hopefully bring the belt to Australia.
