Alex Pereira is one of the most popular fighters in the UFC today. Poatan is the promotion’s 205-pound champion and one of the more visible fighters on social media. While a lot is known about his personal life, one of the top questions fans ask about the Brazilian is his marital status.
Currently, Pereira is not married but according to reports, he has an ex-wife whose identity is not known to the public. But the couple has two sons, and the boys – Lohan Vidal Silva and Alessandro Vidal Silva, are with Alex right now.

What is certain, however, is that he used to date a content creator named Merle Christine. Merle was involved with GLORY kickboxing and used to do fighter interviews for the organisation. Pereira and Merle were in a relationship until last year when they split. When Pereira was asked what went wrong earlier this year, Alex claimed that Merle was already married when they were together.
“It’s a little hard to talk about this because, for me, I already deleted this person from my life,” he said on the latest instalment of the Full Send MMA podcast. “I would also like to ask my fans to also delete her from your life. It was a person I believed, I put her in my house, together with my family. After all, I found out, she was married.”
But Merle denied Alex’s accusations and claimed that she was the one who broke up with him. She however refused to go into the details but was cordial enough to wish Alex well in his MMA career.
“It seems like all these comments and rumours are not stopping, so I think it’s important to make a little statement. Sometimes in life, a relationship doesn’t work, and people decide to take two different ways. And I think it’s something everybody has to respect, and it doesn’t mean that there is bad blood between these two people… I wish Alex all the best and a lot of success in his career.” she wrote on social media.
Most recently, Pereira has been training with UFC women’s strawweight fighter Polyana Viana who is also Brazilian. The 31-year-old has appeared in videos with Alex but there is no confirmation if the two are in a relationship.
