Jamahal Hill is deep in training for his UFC 300 bout against Alex Pereira and ‘Sweet Dreams’ is getting help from the only fighter to beat Poatan inside the Octagon.
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill is leaving no stone unturned in his preparations for UFC 300. With his upcoming title fight with Alex Pereira drawing near, Hill has sought the help of former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
In a recent Instagram story, ‘Sweet Dreams’ face-timed ‘The Last Stylebender’ and captioned his post with the words: “Picking one of the best minds is the history of the sport!!!”

There’s no question that Adesanya is one of the best minds in the sport so getting a piece of his mind would be a huge boost for Hill. But that’s not all, Adesanya knows Pereira more than any opponent. They fought two times in the Glory Kickboxing promotion and also twice in the UFC. Izzy is also the last and only fighter to beat Pereira in the UFC when he knocked him out at UFC 287 one year ago.
Hill won the vacant UFC light heavyweight title by defeating Glover Teixeira via unanimous decision at UFC 283 back in January 2023. But Hill was forced to relinquish the belt after he ruptured his Achilles tendon while playing in a pickup basketball game against fellow UFC fighters during the 2023 International Fight Week celebration. That set up a title fight between Pereira and another former champion, Jiri Prochazka.
Prochazka submitted Teixeira in the 5th round of their UFC 295 bout in 2022. But he too suffered an injury and had to surrender the title. That paved the way for Jamahal to fight Glover.
Hill’s upcoming bout against Pereira will be Hill’s first since beating Teixeira. An interesting side story on the UFC 300 main event is that Teixeira is Pereira’s trainer. Poatan vowed to avenge his mentor’s loss to Prochazka and he did that by knocking out Jiri last November to win the belt. Now Pereira wants to make Hill pay for retiring Teixeira.
